Perfectly Imperfect

Image
Hello, my wonderful readers and welcome back! Today, we're gonna talk about mankind's never ending obsession with perfection. Tell me, when was the last time you looked at yourself in the mirror and saw something wrong. An hour ago, maybe? And your entire day was probably ruined because of that one flaw, maybe the t-shirt didn't look nice or your hair looked ridiculous or you felt as if you had gained weight. And, in the worst case scenario, you saw someone pretty online and then when you say yourself, you didn't like it. But where do all of these ridiculous comparisons and at time, self-hatred come from? My best guess: that's what we're told ever since we're born. That you always have to be the best and if you can't be that, all of society is gonna do whatever they can to change you and make you one of those perfect people who always have the best looks, the best wardrobe, the best grades, the best literally everything. And to you, their life will be ra...

Friendship

Image
Hello my awesome readers! Welcome back! Hope all of you are doing great. To those of you who know, two very special friends of mine are celebrating their birthdays in the coming few days. So I dedicate this post to them and all of my wonderful friends. Friendship.  The word itself means so much to all of us and has multiple meanings. I don't know how the dictionary defines it but to me it's this connection you have with others which is so strong that you can trust them with your life and they will not disappoint. They're the people you call at 2 in the morning, the people with whom you study a night before your exams, the people who know the most embarassing stuff about you, the people who have a P.hd in you and know every single detail about your life and vice versa, the people who know something is wrong from a single text, the people who irritate you, tease you, make fun of you, make you angry, who you fight the most with but at the same time you know that you can't ...

Thank You

Image
Hello, my wonderful readers! Welcome back. Hope all of you are doing great. In this post, I'm gonna talk about two of the most used words: Thank you. I'm sure all of us have said these a million times in our lives. You've probably said it a couple times today itself. But how often do we actually mean that? Sure, we may thank someone for carrying our stuff or opening the door or gifting us something. But think, how many times you've actually meant that? In fact, it's been taught since we were in preschool that you should say "thank you" to anyone who helps you but we were not taught to actually mean it, were we? That's precisely what I'm gonna talk about today. You see, thank you are very simple words but they carry a lot of meaning. Saying thank you and meaning it from the bottom of your heart is termed as having gratitude or being grateful. Now, being grateful doesn't mean that you go out of your way to thank someone but it actually means that...

True Stories

Hello, readers. I'd like to start of with this question:- How many of you have dreamt about going to college? Chances are, most of you have, I have too. I've always imagined college as this place where you actually discover yourself, make lifelong friends, learn incredible new things and have the time of your life! Sound familiar? Now, for those of you who are in college, here's something for you:- Do you actually enjoy it there and is it really what movies show it to be?  Some of you may agree that it really is an awesome place and you love it there. But others...not so much. You may think why or how can someone not like college but I learnt some stuff that goes down beyond all of those friendships and classes. Here's something that I learnt about a particular college and the treatment of the students there. It was totally unexpected and tells a lot about what the juniors are facing on a daily basis. Everyone expected that they would form special bonds and have a lot o...

Fear

Image
Fear.... Just the sound of it sends chills down your spine, right? All of us have fears. I, for one, am scared of failure. So, everytime I try something new or have to answer am exam or play guitar in front of people, I'm terrified of not being good enough or being laughed at. But, at the same time, I wonder if I'd regret not doing something out of fear!  I think all of us have faced this at some point in our lives.  Whether you're a teenager like me who is scared of the future and choosing the right career or you're a working person who's afraid of not being promoted even after working at a certain place for several years. Same goes for the people who have graduated college and are now worried about finding work or getting into the right university for further education. Seems like fear pretty much controls your life, doesn't it?  But it's not the truth. You have a choice either to let the demons win or defeat them and delete them from your life. This is go...

Hope

Image
What is hope? All of us have been hearing the word 'hope' since a long time. The word as defined by the dictionary means, a feeling that something wanted may happen or something wished for. Growing up, we've heard sentences such as- " Have hope." or "Hope is all you need." or "Have hope and you'll have everything else." But how does it work? Try this:-  Sit down and close your eyes for a minute. Try to think about the last time when you felt you were all alone things were going terribly wrong and you had no idea what to do next. Now, try to think of situation or an event that was completely in contrast to this. After thinking about the happy and better incident, you may have this warm feeling inside. That is Hope.   We use hope so very often that we don't always realise it when we're using it. Some examples are trying to cook a recipe again and again until it's perfect, practising the same dance or song multiple time...
Hey, everyone!  This is Disha Joshi here. I'm a 13 year old and I'm in grade 8. Ever since we entered into the lockdown, we have been having mixed feelings. Boredom and anxiety have been major moods throughout. A few have been depressed and sad too as corona put a pause in everything that we had dreamt of achieving this year.  So to make your upcoming days -  which are juggling between lockdown and unlockdown-a bit more joyful, interesting and relaxing, I'm going to be here and talk about various stuff such as positivity, courage, faith, hope, love, equality, women empowerment and feminism. I'll also include a few posts about life from the view of people from different age groups and will share some of my write-ups too.   Here's a poem I recently wrote and I hope it puts you in a good mood.                        Happiness All of us crave for happiness In our daily lives.  But do we understand What it t...
